Launching in 2027

The Spark Bus is a mobile classroom and hands-on learning lab designed to bring opportunity directly to children throughout Columbiana and rural Mahoning County. As part of The Brightside Project’s Spark Initiative, the bus will give children opportunities to explore new interests, discover their talents and connect with mentors who can introduce them to careers and experiences they may not otherwise encounter. Through interactive learning, career exploration and real-world experiences, the Spark Bus will help children discover their “spark”—the interests, talents and passions that excite them and help them imagine what their future could look like.

A Partnership with John Cockerill

The Brightside Project is proud to partner with John Cockerill Industry North America to help bring the Spark Initiative—and the Spark Bus—to life. John Cockerill has committed $85,000 to the project, along with the time, talents and expertise of its employees. Team members will help renovate and outfit the Spark Bus and will also serve as mentors, sharing their skills and experiences with children through future Spark Initiative programming.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding opportunity for young people and helping break down barriers that can limit what children believe is possible for their futures. By connecting children with hands-on experiences and professionals from manufacturing, engineering and the skilled trades, John Cockerill is helping Brightside introduce young people to new possibilities—and the people who can help them pursue them.
